A leading company in the aviation industry is seeking a Gear Finisher for the 1st shift. This role involves hand grinding and finishing gears, ensuring precision according to blueprints and verbal instructions. Candidates should have at least one year of machine shop experience. Work Performed:
Performs a variety of gear finishing operations that cannot be performed by machine. Hand grinds and finishes all types of gears, splines, and sprockets to required tolerances. Uses hand or bench power tools to remove sharp edges, deburr, chamfer, form radii, and finish gears according to blueprints or verbal instructions.
Selects appropriate grinding wheels and abrasives to finish each gear tooth carefully, avoiding burns, nicks, or surface marring. Removes the correct amount of material precisely at specified locations. Makes salvage repairs and corrects inspection rejects on all types of gears, splines, and sprockets. May etch, stamp, or mark work for identification purposes.
Tools & Equipment Used: Files, abrasives, band and bench power tools, attachments, etching and marking devices, grinding wheels, measuring instruments, and gauges.
Experience & Other Requirements:
At least one year of machine shop experience or hand finishing of machined parts.
