Job summary

B&D Industrial, located in Westland, MI, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. You will design gears, shafts, and gearbox components, and prepare SolidWorks models with precise GD&T data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in gear manufacturing, power transmission, or precision components.
• Working knowledge of gear geometry and AGMA standards (AGMA 2001, 2015, 6010; ISO 6336/1328).
• Proficient in SolidWorks (detailed drawings, GD&T per ASME Y14.5).

Responsibilities

• Design, model & draw gears, shafts, and gearbox components using SolidWorks; create data tables and GD&T.
• Perform gear checks and rating for spur, helical, bevel and worm gears per AGMA/ISO.
• Review RFQs, define scope, materials, heat treatment, costs, and quotes; act as customer’s tech contact.
• Create routers: operation sequence, work centers, setup/run hours, inspection points; develop estimating standards.
• Provide shop and quality support with machinists and QA; assist with failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
