Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Chemical Systems Engineer to own, maintain and improve chemical operations. You will engage with operations, maintenance, construction, and vendors to sustain equipment and drive improvements in safety, quality, and reliability.

Responsibilities include commissioning new equipment, leading MOC for PSM/RMP processes, and planning maintenance to minimize failures while enhancing productivity.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a related field; equivalent experience accepted.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in gas or chemical equipment ownership; semiconductor experience is a plus.
• Strong technical skills and the competency to represent the group in work coordination and execution.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Operations: provide technical expertise and ownership for chemical systems, safety and quality standards, and improvements for those systems. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, construction teams and vendors.
• Troubleshoot emergent equipment issues and provide direction to resolve.
• Plan and execute non-standard equipment maintenance to address failures or improvements.
• Coordinate with Fab Engineering to support safety, quality, and system reliability.
• New Equipment Startup: Commission and startup new equipment installations.
• Support and lead MOC for PSM and RMP covered processes.
• Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance quality, productivity and safety while reducing cost.
• Analyze future scenario planning including infrastructure budget, schedule forecasting, utilization and capacity data.
• Process Improvement; Standardization across equipment fleet (work processes, alarm management, 6s); Optimize preventative maintenance for aging assets.

Position Summary

The GCS Chemical Engineering team is focused on comprehensively owning, maintaining, and improving specialty and bulk chemical operations at Samsung Austin Semiconductor. As a part of the Chemical Equipment team, you will provide support by interacting with the on-site operations/maintenance team for HPM (Hazardous Process Material).

Role and Responsibilities

Equipment Operations

• Chemical Systems Engineer will provide technical expertise and ownership for chemical systems, safety and quality standards, and improvements for those systems. Engineer will interact with operations teams, maintenance teams, construction teams, and equipment vendors to sustain and maintain equipment.

• Troubleshoot emergent equipment issues and provide technical direction to resolve.

• Work with maintenance teams to plan and execute non-standard equipment maintenance to address failures or equipment improvements.

• Communicate and coordinate with Fab Engineering groups to provide technical support, supply issue resolution, and collaboration for improved safety, quality, and system reliability.

New Equipment Startup

• Commission and startup new equipment installations.

• Support and lead MOC for PSM and RMP covered processes.

• Drive continuous improvement projects to improve quality, productivity, and safety, while also reducing cost.

• Evaluate future scenario planning including infrastructure budget and schedule forecasting, utilization and capacity data analysis, and reporting.

• Process Improvement.

• Implement standardization methods across equipment fleet (work processes, alarm management, 6s principles).

• Optimize PM (preventative maintenance) strategies for aging assets to minimize risk of unexpected failures.

• Improve process control and monitoring methods to ensure a robust proactive approach to sustaining large equipment sets.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in gas or chemical equipment ownership; semiconductor experience is a plus.

• Strong technical skills and the competency to represent the group in work coordination and execution are essential.

The current base salary range for this role is between $70,480 - $179,090. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
