Job summary

Eurofins Environment Testing Southwest, CalScience in Tustin CA is seeking a VOA GC Chemist I to prepare and analyze environmental samples following EPA protocols within Eurofins QA programs and SOPs.

Responsibilities include prep of water/soil samples for GC analysis, data review in LIMS, and routine instrument maintenance. Requires 1+ years GC experience and a BS/BA in chemistry or related field. Full-time, Saturday-Wednesday shift with overtime; benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 1+ years operating a GC in an academic or production lab.
• BS or BA in chemistry or related field; 3 years lab experience may substitute for a degree.
• Production-oriented experience is a plus and helps meet deadlines.
• Effective time management and multitasking skills.
• Ability to perform and evaluate basic mathematical calculations and formulas.
• Ability to work independently following written and verbal instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without sponsorship.
• Professional working proficiency in English (read, write, speak).

Responsibilities

• Prepare water and soil samples for analysis by Purge and Trap Gas Chromatography.
• Evaluate chromatography for qualitative and quantitative criteria.
• Monitor and manage backlog workload to meet client program requirements.
• Upload and peer review data using LIMS.
• Perform basic instrument maintenance and repair, including column replacement and ion source cleaning.
• Prepare standards and reagents for sample analysis.
• Maintain instrument calibrations in accordance with QAQC requirements.
• General housekeeping to maintain an organized and safe lab.
• Conduct daily duties per environmental health and safety programs.
• Perform other laboratory duties as assigned.
