Job summary

Wyman Gordon in Dillon, SC is seeking a Level Two Maintenance Technician to perform preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on manufacturing equipment. A basic understanding of fabrication and welding, plus strong reading, writing and math skills, are essential.

The role requires 3–6 years of manufacturing experience, ability to read work orders and prints, use calipers and micrometers, and work safely under PPE guidelines. This is a full-time, on-site position with shift flexibility.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of manufacturing experience or technical certification/degree.
• GED or high school diploma required.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions and prints.
• Basic shop math and use of common inspection tools.

Responsibilities

• Work safely under PPE guidelines and follow instructions.
• Interpret and execute work orders and repair tasks.
• Perform basic maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical processes.
• Perform basic welding with MIG or stick processes.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area and follow 6S practices.
• Assist lead/supervisor as needed.

Job description

Position Summary

Level Two

Building upon level one, level two maintenance technicians perform basic preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and emergency maintenance on all equipment. Basic understanding of fabrication and welding; good communication skills a must in reading, writing and verbalizing, calipers and basic shop math. Typically, 3-6 years of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Correctly interpret work orders
• Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
• Perform basic facility maintenance tasks.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance tasks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical processes.
• Ability to determine repairs needed for future corrective maintenance work.
• Perform basic non-load bearing welds using mig or stick welding
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform daily housekeeping / 6S activities as required.
• Perform other duties as requested by lead, supervisor or manager.

Experience & Education

• 3 to 6 year of manufacturing experience; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree required
• GED or High School diploma required

Working Conditions

• Constant exposure to indoor / outdoor manufacturing environment
• Constant exposure to moderate noise
• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to work any shift including overtime, weekends and holidays if scheduled.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
• Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing and pulling of materials.
• Must be able to safety operate an overhead crane, boom lift and manlift.
• Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
• Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
• Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
• Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
