Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth seeks a qualified welding instructor to teach Oxy-Fuel, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, Flux Core, and Aluminum welding in non-credit, career and technical education programs.

This contract faculty position reports to the Director of Workforce Development and requires diverse instructional techniques, safety emphasis, and diligent record-keeping to prepare students for entry-level positions or apprenticeships.

Qualifications

• AS or AAS degree or industry certification in welding
• Knowledge of code welding procedures and specifications
• Ability to read blueprints with a strong mathematics background
• Experience with fabrication, equipment, and tools of the trade
• Strong communication and classroom/lab facilitation skills with a focus on safety

Responsibilities

• Utilize instructional techniques to prepare students for entry-level positions or apprenticeships
• Assess instructional requirements and provide orientation and instruction in welding technology career and technical education related competencies
• Ensure that industry standards are incorporated into the program
• Provide training in the proper use of tools and equipment related to welding industry; instruct students in all related safety procedures and industry protocols
• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work
• Evaluate student progress against course objectives
• Maintain course records, grades, and attendance in accordance with college policy
• Communicate supply and equipment needs to program coordinator
• Maintain clean and orderly classroom and lab area

Position Summary

• Great Bay Community College seeks a qualified instructor to provide instruction to students in the diverse areas of welding, i.e. Oxy-Fuel, Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Gas Tungsten Arc, Flux Core, and Aluminum.

Scope of Work

• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills in an entry-level position or apprenticeship
• Assess the instructional requirements of students and provide orientation and instruction in welding technology career and technical education related competencies
• Ensures that industry standards are incorporated into the program
• Provides training in the proper use of tools and equipment related to the welding industry; instructs students in all related safety procedures and industry protocols
• Provides timely, constructive feedback on student work
• Evaluates student progress against the stated course objectives
• Maintains course records, grades, and attendance in accordance with college policy
• Communicates supply and equipment needs to program coordinator

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum AS or AAS degree or industry relevant certification(s) such as journeyman or AWS credentials with a strong work history and demonstrated subject matter expertise. Professional designations or certifications in subject matter desired
• Knowledge and ability with code welding procedures and specifications
• Ability to read blueprints with a strong mathematics background
• Experience with fabrication, equipment, and other tools of trade
• Strong communication and classroom/lab facilitation skills with a focus on safety
