Job summary

Professional Transportation Inc. in St. Paul, MN is seeking a Gate Administrator to manage and coordinate gate activity at the customer facility. You will inspect equipment, verify credentials, and ensure that vehicles, employees, and customers enter and exit safely using handheld scanners and desktop applications.

This role relies on teamwork and strong communication, operates in all weather conditions, and offers on‑the‑job training with room for growth within PTI.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Must maintain eRail credentials as required by the railroad.
• Strong written and verbal communication with a variety of individuals.
• Ability to work in all outdoor conditions including weather.
• Ability to travel throughout the yard or facility by walking or driving.
• Must be able to see and hear moving equipment for safety.
• Basic computer skills and general technology proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness within the intermodal facility and monitor ground surfaces.
• Visually inspect IDs of all visitors and announce entries.
• Use handheld devices and scan driver missions in-gate and out-gate to keep inventory.
• Inspect in-gating equipment for damages and document findings.
• Direct third‑party drivers and customers to designated locations.
• Understand outbound destinations and adjust restrictions as needed.
• Answer phones, assist employees and customers, coordinate with management.
• Lock gates and secure crash protection as required.
• Perform general housekeeping as needed.

Gate Administrator – ST. Paul

Job Summary

This position supports employee operations by managing and coordinating gate activity at the customer facility. The role is responsible for inspecting equipment, verifying required credentials, and ensuring that vehicles, employees, and customers enter and exit the facility safely and efficiently. This position relies heavily on technology, including handheld scanners and desktop applications, to complete daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness and organization within the intermodal facility, paying attention to the ground surfaces to include potholes, debris, and/or slippery conditions.
• Visual inspection of ID’s of all persons entering the customer facility; announce all visitors’ entry onto the property.
• Utilize handheld electronic devices safely. Verify and scan driver missions as they in-gate and out-gate keeping inventory correct.
• Inspect in-gating equipment for damages and document findings accordingly.
• Direct third‑party drivers and customers to their designated locations.
• Understand outbound destinations and the location of those destinations within the yard as well as modifying destination restrictions as needed.
• Administrative duties as needed: answer phones, assist employees/customers with questions, work closely with company and customer management, and ensure compliance with facility and company rules.
• Gate locking and crash protection securement as warranted.
• General housekeeping as needed.
