Job summary

Milwaukee Brewers are seeking a Gate Screener to support fan screening at American Family Field. The role focuses on safety, hospitality, and efficient entry for guests during baseball games and events.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and prior crowd control experience at a major sports venue; a criminal justice background is a plus. Training sessions and varied schedules are required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow MLB Best Practices for fan security screening during games and events.
  • Perform bag screening at entry points.
  • Operate walk-through and handheld detectors per standards.
  • Greet and monitor fans, ensuring a smooth, courteous entry.
  • Identify prohibited items and prevent entry to the venue.
  • Interact with fans with a positive attitude and clear communication.
  • Process credentials for media and guests at entrances.
  • Monitor security-related information in the command center and report as needed.
  • Screen early entry staff as required.
  • May be assigned to special pay areas on an as-needed basis.

Job description

Overview

As part of Security, the Gate Screener will be responsible for the fan screening process before and during baseball games and other events at American Family Field in support of the mission to provide exceptional guest experiences in a safe, clean and friendly environment. This position will support providing a higher level of security to guests, property and personnel and limit risks of liability. A strong emphasis is placed on providing top level customer service to our fans.


Core duties


  • Follow all aspects of fan security screening as outlined in Major League Baseball’s Best Practices bulletin during games and other events that require fan screening

  • Perform bag screening while guests enter American Family Field

  • Operate and monitor walk-through metal detectors and handheld metal detectors professionally to manufacturer and industry standards

  • Greet and monitor fans entering the screening area in a polite manner making the experience as pleasant as possible

  • Observe fans entering the screening area, identify prohibited items and ensure those items do not enter the ballpark

  • Interact with fans with a positive attitude using good communication skills

  • May be designated for special assignments in areas eligible for special pay on an as needed basis:



  • Process credentials and access for media members and guests at American Family Field in dock entrance(s)

  • Monitor Brewers social media software in command center and report necessary information gathered

  • Early entry employee screening


The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience with crowd control at a major sports venue preferred. Background or training in criminal justice a plus.


Candidates


  • Must be available to attend training sessions, stadium tours and other events, as necessary, prior to beginning of the baseball season

  • Must be available to work weekdays, weeknights, and weekends during baseball season

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to stand throughout five (5) hour shift

  • Willing to learn and use programs on your computer and/or mobile phone to submit availability and complete necessary employment training


Work Hours

Hours vary according to the game and event schedule. Gate Screeners are typically expected to arrive two (2) hours prior to game time and average shifts can be up to five (5) hours; employees may be requested to work additional hours including concerts on occasion. Maximum of 30 hours per week.
