Job summary

Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc. is seeking a gate/traffic control specialist at our Los Angeles area warehouse to manage entry and exit of containers and trailers, register visitors, and ensure compliance with the YMS system.

You will apply YMS transponders, gather vehicle details, collect signatures for loaded moves, and help maintain security and orderly yard operations. The position requires a high school diploma and about one year of related experience, with a comprehensive benefits package

Responsibilities

• At the equipment control station, greet traffic arriving at the gate and direct visitors to the appropriate area; register the visitor in the YMS system.
• Apply YMS transponders to containers/trailers that will remain in storage.
• Determine gate operator details for units being picked up and direct carriers to parking locations.
• Obtain license plate and driver identification for live load activities and enter into YMS as required.
• For loaded units, obtain driver signatures and maintain documents in YMS; verify empties as needed.
• Perform duties safely and be able to accommodate individuals with disabilities.

Position Summary

Responsible for controlling the proper entry and departures of containers/trailers on the grounds and buildings to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• At the equipment control station, meets and greets all traffic arriving at YLA warehouse facility gates. Determines the purpose to the visit and directs visitors to the appropriate area of the yard or building. Registers the visitor by entering appropriate data into the hand held devices of the YMS system.
• Applies YMS transponders to containers/trailers that will remain in storage.
• When carrier is also picking up a unit will determine gate operator obtains details of the unit being picked up and will direct carriers to where the unit is parked.
• In the event of a live load pick up and/or delivery, obtains for security purposes the license plate and driver identification, and enter into YMS system.
• Upon departure of carriers, inspects unit to determine if it is full or empty. For empty units departing, determines validity in YMS. For loaded units, obtains driver's signature as required. Maintains document and registers in the YMS system.
