- Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Summary
Provide accurate monitoring and reporting of all incoming and outgoing shipments and vehicles while conducting business in a courteous and professional manner. Survey the facility grounds for suspicious activity and ensure all facility doors are properly secured.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a visual security presence.
- Control outside access to Receiving and Distribution Areas.
- Ensure all vehicles requesting entrance have proper prior authorization before allowing entrance.
- Visually inspect trucks and trailers for any suspicious circumstances.
- Verify all visitors and off-shift employees’ authorization to be on premises, including access to the back lot. Report any suspicious activity to the Risk Manager.
- Monitor storage trailers for proper temperature and security seals when loaded.
- Monitor inside and outside facility video feeds for suspicious activity.
- Verify against the manifest and log trailer number, destination, driver information, and seal numbers.
- Perform foot patrol of the facility grounds and verify door security.
- Promptly report any suspicious activities to the Risk Manager.
- Monitor grounds for proper parking of vehicles.
- Perform basic security inspections of grounds.
- Maintain shift log.
- Perform scale house duties on 3rd shift as required, in the absence of the attendant.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the company.
Qualifications
- Ability to carry out essential duties within safety guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge to recognize potential safety hazards.
- Dependability and ability to work independently, making effective decisions within policy in both crisis and routine situations.
- Professional demeanor and respectful attitude.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in operating a computer and basic email programs.
- Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
Communication Skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand English to communicate effectively and convey rules, regulations, or policies.
- Good customer service skills.
Physical Requirements / Environment
- Frequent standing/walking for 3-6 hours of an 8-hour shift.
- Frequent lifting/carrying of 1-10 lbs, occasional 11-50 lbs, rarely 51-100 lbs with equipment.
- Work in indoor and outdoor conditions, sometimes exposed to chicken odor.
- Eyesight: 20/20 with or without corrective lenses.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a background check.
Rehire Consideration
- Maximum of two previous Tyson employments considered.
- 90 days (3 months) waiting period between employments.
