Job summary

Health First in Florida is seeking a Gastroenterology Reprocessing Technician to ensure uncompromised safety, quality, and patient care. You will support licensed personnel in endoscope reprocessing and related activities, maintaining logs and equipment with strict adherence to PPE and manufacturer guidelines.

The role requires a High School Diploma, AHA BLS certification within 90 days, and strong communication to balance workload and meet patient volumes.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare provider card within 90 days of start date and maintained.
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Demonstrates communication skills and ability to share workload evenly and complete work in a timely manner to meet patient volumes.

Responsibilities

• Maintains tracking records and testing logs for scope room and environment of care.

• Performs proper daily maintenance of equipment to ensure proper reprocessing of endoscopes.
• Assists in management and troubleshooting equipment failure and servicing of endoscopes and accessories.

• Handles delicate endoscopes with care and stores scopes per manufacturer guidelines.
• Works with physicians and staff to keep up with patient flow for scopes.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Gastroenterology Reprocessing Technician provides uncompromised safety, superior quality,

customer service and stewardship by providing a variety of technical activities related to patient care

and assisting licensed personnel in delivery of care through the productive utilization of the individuals’

skills.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES

1. Maintains all tracking records and testing logs for scope room and environment of care properly.
2. Adheres to universal precautions and wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) perset ASGE/SGNA standards.
3. Performs proper daily maintenance of equipment to ensure proper reprocessing of endoscopes.
4. Assists in management and troubleshooting equipment failure, including proper procedure forservice and/or repair of endoscopes, and all processors or accessories.
5. Follows manufacturer guidelines for leak testing of endoscopes, manual cleaning andreprocessing of endoscopes and accessories to provide high level disinfection.
6. Handles delicate endoscopes with care to prevent damage. Ensure that scopes are hung andstored appropriately per manufacturers’ guidelines.
7. Works with physicians and staff to keep up with patient flow/demand for scopes.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

• Work Experience: One (1) years’ experience working in scope reprocessing room or sterile processing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MEDIUM)

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
• May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
• May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
