Job summary

AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking qualified Gastroenterology Technicians to support GI services in a fast-paced military clinic. You will assist during GI procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP and related tasks, preparing rooms, processing endoscopes and aiding with recovery.

The role requires high school completion, accredited Medical Assistant training with current certificate, BLS, and at least one year of recent medical setting experience. On-call duties and shift coverage are required.

Qualifications

• GI procedures, anatomy and physiology, aseptic technique, infection control.
• Specimen handling and endoscope processing, instrument handling.
• EMR documentation and patient communication; ability to stay calm during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Set up, support, and take down equipment for routine and emergent GI procedures.
• Assist physicians and RNs during diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency procedures.
• Prepare procedure rooms and patients; screen in and transport.
• Obtain, monitor and document physiological measurements in the EMR.
• Perform lab draws and transport specimens per protocol.
• Disinfect endoscopes (HLD) and handle specimens for pathology.
• Assist with post-procedure recovery and identify complications.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, inventory and infection-control standards.
• Schedule appointments, referrals and upload GI reports.
