The VATVCBHCS includes the Corpus Christi Outpatient Clinic, Corpus Christi Specialty Clinic, Harlingen Outpatient Clinic, Health Care Center at Harlingen, Laredo Outpatient Clinic, and McAllen Outpatient Clinic. It provides ambulatory health care in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and rehabilitation, and operates programs such as a 100-patient Home Based Primary Care and a 200-patient Care Coordination Home Tele-Health. The system manages approximately 2,600 inpatient admissions and 5,800 ER visits annually.

The Gastroenterologist's duties include:

Clinical Duties:

• Providing patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective, including inpatient and consult services during off-hours as needed.
• Maintaining privileges and practicing within their specialty as approved by the Professional Standards Board.
• Demonstrating knowledge of biomedical, clinical, and social sciences, and applying this knowledge to patient care and education.
• Using scientific evidence to evaluate and improve patient care.
• Establishing professional relationships through effective communication.
• Exhibiting professionalism through ongoing development, ethics, and sensitivity to diversity.
• Understanding and applying healthcare systems knowledge to improve care.

Administrative Duties:

• Participating in staff meetings, hospital committees, and peer review; potentially acting as Section Chief.
• Maintaining required training, documentation, and credentials.
• Participating in performance evaluations and clinical reviews.
• Managing clinical operations including patient encounters, documentation, scheduling, staff productivity, and quality initiatives.
