Job Overview

Northwestern Health Network Medical Group is seeking fellowship-trained, BE/BC general Gastroenterologists for a primarily inpatient role. Candidates should be proficient in routine endoscopy and managing gastrointestinal diseases, including emergency procedures such as upper and lower GI bleeding, food impactions, and volvulus. The position involves performing endoscopies from the emergency department and inpatient consults, working alongside 1-2 interventional endoscopists and other subspecialists.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform routine endoscopies, including PEG placement.
  2. Manage GI emergencies effectively.
  3. Collaborate with hospitalists and subspecialists for patient care.
Schedule and Support
  • 26-week schedule, 7-day weeks, 12-hour days (1 week on/1 week off).
  • Supported by an Advanced Practice Provider for inpatient consults and care transitions.
Qualifications and Preferences
  • Fellowship-trained, BE/BC Gastroenterologist.
  • Competent in upper and lower endoscopy, enteral access, and emergency management.
  • ERCP experience highly preferred.
