This large physician medical group in Phoenix, AZ is actively seeking an experienced, board-certified gastroenterologist and physician leader to serve as the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director. The fellowship is a three-year program with six fellows, initially accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
The team practices in a 571-bed academic, Level 1 trauma, medical center and attached clinics, supported by Hepatology, Liver Transplant, Advanced Endoscopy Services, General Surgery, all Surgical Subspecialties, Pathology, and Radiology. Join an expanding team of gastroenterologists with APP support within the clinic setting.
Responsibilities
- 75% Clinical / 25% Academic
- Maintain certification and compliance with ACGME requirements
- Model professionalism
- Ensure program compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and ACGME standards
- Oversee didactic and clinical education, develop curricula, and monitor fellow supervision
- Collaborate with other departments and sites to develop rotations for fellows and residents
- Assess and promote fellow well-being, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Develop communication channels with fellows and faculty
- Manage faculty and fellow evaluations and performance feedback
- Fellow recruitment and selection
- GME research and scholarly activity
- Program evaluation

Minimum Requirements
- MD or DO degree with current certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or acceptable subspecialty qualifications
- Current medical licensure and appropriate staff appointment
- At least three years of educational and/or administrative experience as faculty in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency or gastroenterology fellowship
- Active clinical and academic achievements in gastroenterology, including publications, educational program development, or research
- Eligibility for or possession of Arizona medical licensure
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to travel between clinical sites as needed
