Job description

Seeking BE/BC Gastroenterologist to join a talented team due to patient demand and expansion.

1. Current team includes 4 Gastroenterologists and 2 Nurse Practitioners, with a goal to expand to 4 full-time providers.
2. The hospital is expanding its endoscopy area, which will feature 3 fully updated procedure rooms.
3. Four-week wait time for new patients.
4. Full-time position, Monday through Friday.
5. 36 patient contact hours per week, plus 4 administrative hours.
6. Call service is 1:4, consult-only, with no hospital admissions.
7. Consults and rounding are performed by the physician on call.
8. Split of responsibilities: 50% clinic and lab, 50% endoscopy.
9. Expected procedures: 11-12 patients daily for endoscopy; 20-25 patients daily in the clinic.
10. Each physician supports their own RN.
11. Endoscopy handles approximately 5,000 cases annually, including 500 inpatient and 4,500 outpatient procedures.
12. 2021 procedure volume included 75 ERCP and 180 EUS cases.
13. The Cancer Center is affiliated with Duke Health Network, facilitating in-network cancer care locally.
14. Candidates may practice general GI, with opportunities for advanced procedures like ERCP and EUS.

Endoscopy Area

• Renovated in 2022 with expanded and upgraded procedure rooms.
• Facility includes 4 procedure rooms and 8 pre/post-operative holding rooms.
• Uses Olympus HD scopes (180 and 190 series).
• C-Arm available in the department.
• Colonoscopies are performed with Propofol and anesthesia support; procedures outside of anesthesia support are done with conscious sedation.

• Base salary plus RVU-based incentives after 1-3 years.
