Responsibilities

• Evaluate medical problems of patients in the assigned gastroenterology practice setting.
• Request consultations from other specialties when indicated.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding preventive care, medical issues, and prescribed treatments.
• Document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, and education consistent with regulatory standards.
• Maintain documentation compliance for appropriate coding.
• Facilitate evaluation of records by physicians and peers according to protocols.
• Referral of complex cases to collaborating physicians.
• Provide medical and emergency interventions appropriate to the needs of clients.
• Prescribe and monitor medications relevant to diagnoses.
• Order and monitor the appropriateness of emergency interventions.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and provide comprehensive patient care.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Acuity level of patients includes adults acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems.
• Utilize EPIC for charting.
• Adhere to unit policies regarding lunch breaks and overtime.
• Cell phone use is prohibited in patient care areas.
• Tattoos are not addressed in the policy.
• Ensure all personal grooming adheres to conservative standards.
• Wear an ID badge at all times and avoid strong scents.
