Job summary

The Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) role in Las Cruces, NM, US, focuses on delivering evidence-based care to patients with GI conditions in outpatient settings. You will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage GI diseases, order tests, prescribe medications, educate patients, and coordinate care with gastroenterology physicians and the care team.

Travel is required. A MSN or DNP and board certification as FNP/AGNP/ACNP are required, with an unrestricted NP license and DEA registration.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted NP license in the applicable state.
• MSN or DNP from an accredited program.
• Current national board certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
• Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or equivalent advanced practice training.
• Ability to independently assess, diagnose, and manage patients within scope of practice.
• Knowledge of gastrointestinal diseases, evidence-based treatment guidelines, and preventive screening recommendations.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage GI patients in outpatient settings.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and tests results.
• Prescribe medications and monitor treatments.
• Coordinate care with gastroenterologists and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Support endoscopic procedures and peri-procedural care.
• Educate patients and promote preventive screening.
