Job summary

United Digestive is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and management with clinical, clerical, and patient-care tasks in a gastroenterology setting. The role focuses on efficient patient flow, chart management in the EMR, and coordinating tests and results for timely physician review.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of specialty clinical experience, preferably gastroenterology, be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, and uphold HIPAA confidentiality

Qualifications

• Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required; CPR certification preferred.
• 2-3 years of specialty clinical experience, gastroenterology preferred.
• Must be computer literate and able to operate various healthcare systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Monitors schedule and organizes patient flow for visits or procedures.
• Accompanies patients to exam rooms, takes history, and performs delegated assessments.
• Schedules tests, interprets results, and communicates them to physicians and patients as needed.
• Performs or assists with in-office ancillary services and procedures.
• Manages patient charts, scans forms into EMR, and prepares charts for visits.
• Maintains exam room readiness, sterilization, and infection control.
• Provides clear information to patients about medical treatments and procedures.
• Answers emails/voicemails and returns patient calls promptly.
• Ensures timely information requests to guarantee payment processing.
