A leading healthcare provider is looking for a Gastroenterologist to join the Medical Service Line in Portland, Maine. The Medical Service Line is seeking a Gastroenterologist (0.4 FTEE) to work at the Portland CBOC.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing, candidates may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who initially met the qualification standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves providing outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology care at the VA Maine Healthcare System - Togus campus and select CBOCs, under supervision of the Chief of Gastroenterology. The work schedule is primarily Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with after-hours on-call responsibilities (no more than one in four rotation). Responsibilities include diagnosing, treating, and managing GI diseases, performing procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and liver biopsies, overseeing nurses and NPs, documenting in medical records, participating in quality assurance, and teaching. The position also involves participation in organizational and educational activities, maintaining ACLS certification, and providing expanded access during off-hours.
