Job summary

VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System seeks a Gastroenterologist to provide comprehensive care for patients with GI illnesses, with focus on hepatitis, at the Harlingen Health Care Center and Ambulatory Surgery Center. Primary, secondary, and tertiary care will be delivered in both hospital and clinic settings.

The physician will perform diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, coordinate care with the team, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
• Experience in gastroenterology procedures including upper and lower endoscopy/colonoscopy.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive gastroenterology care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Coordinate activities of other health service personnel and resolve patient care issues.
• Educate patients and family members regarding care, illness, and management.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy/colonoscopy procedures.
• Engage in administrative duties as assigned and manage workflow.
