Position Overview
A growing healthcare organization in Hudson County, NJ is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join its established medical group.
This is a full-scope gastroenterology opportunity combining outpatient practice, inpatient coverage, and endoscopic procedures. Physicians typically begin their day in the endoscopy unit before transitioning to the outpatient office setting.
The Gastroenterologist will work alongside GI fellows and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal and hepatology conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary conditions.
- Diagnose and manage conditions including IBD, IBS, GERD, liver disease, motility disorders, GI malignancies, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Perform inpatient and outpatient endoscopic procedures, including:
- EGD
- Polypectomy
- PEG placement
- Hemostatic interventions
- Provide outpatient gastroenterology consultations and follow-up care.
- Participate in inpatient consultations and urgent/emergent GI care.
- Perform advanced procedures such as ERCP and EUS when appropriately fellowship-trained and credentialed.
- Collaborate with GI fellows and other physicians across the healthcare system.
- Coordinate transitions of care between outpatient practices, endoscopy units, emergency departments, and inpatient services.
- Partner with colorectal surgery, general surgery, oncology, radiology, nutrition, and other specialties in the management of complex cases.
- Participate in quality-assurance initiatives, peer review, and other clinical improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the organization's EHR.
Schedule & Call
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Typical day begins in the endoscopy unit and transitions to outpatient practice
- Approximately 10–12 call assignments per month, shared with GI fellows
- Approximately 1:5 weekend call, with fellow support
- Combination of outpatient, inpatient, and procedural responsibilities
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
- Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey
- Appropriate credentials to perform standard diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
- Strong clinical, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Advanced endoscopy training is welcomed but not required
Compensation
- Bonus: $30,000
