Job summary

Peoples Gas System in Florida (Miami area) seeks a skilled Utility Technician to support operation, service, and location of natural gas pipelines and metering equipment. You may perform construction, installation, and maintenance tasks for residential, commercial, and industrial customers, ensuring safety and reliability of gas distribution.

The role requires reading meters, setting up meters/regulators, and responding to leaks or emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in duties of this position; or 3–4 years in natural gas operations.
• Able to read maps and operate a computer and basic tools.
• Able to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, basic algebra).
• Good judgment and ability to follow complex instructions in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Reads meters and turns on/off gas service for residential/commercial customers.
• Sets and changes out meters/regulators and maintains meters and regulators.
• Investigates high-bill or unusual consumption readings.
• Fabricates and joins gas piping/fittings and may weld; operates distribution equipment.
• Locates underground natural gas systems and responds to leaks or emergencies.
