Job summary

WSB in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking Gas Trouble Locate Technicians to support utility locating operations in the field. The role focuses on safely locating and marking underground utilities, including gas and electric facilities, using APWA color standards and accurate field documentation.

Ideal candidates have 1–4+ years in utility locating, a valid driver’s license, and comfort reading maps and construction plans.

Qualifications

• 1–4+ years of utility locating experience preferred.
• Knowledge of PE and Steel gas lines and components.
• Experience in damage prevention.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Ability to read and interpret utility maps and construction plans.
• Comfortable with field tools and field data collection.

Responsibilities

• Perform utility locating with safety, accuracy, and compliance.
• Respond to locate requests within required timeframes.
• Locate and mark underground utilities including gas per APWA color standards.
• Read utility maps, as-builts, and construction plans.
• Operate locating equipment and field tools.
• Troubleshoot difficult or unlocatable facilities.
• Gather field data and document findings with internal teams.
• Verify compliance with federal, state, local requirements.
• Complete daily inspection reports and documentation using company devices.
• Communicate scope, conditions, and updates with project teams.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and document daily records.
• Document incidents and opportunities for improvement.
• Complete Operator Qualification modules and training.
• Navigate to multiple job sites daily in outdoor conditions.
