Job summary

The City of Lawrenceville is seeking a utility technician to assist in the maintenance and repair of the natural gas system. The role involves stocking parts, locating underground lines, excavating, and installing meters and regulators, with attention to safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, repairing leaks, and performing related field tasks in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs the gas utility system as part of daily duties.
• Locates and marks underground gas lines and exposes lines to identify obstructions.
• Operates heavy equipment and uses hand and power tools.
• Installs meters, regulators and associated gas infrastructure.
• Responds to emergencies and repairs leaks and damaged pipelines.
• Performs general warehouse and yard tasks as needed.
