Qualifications

• 2–10 years of gas turbine industry experience.
• 2–10 years setting up and operating CNC machines.
• 2–10 years using gauges (calipers, bore micrometers, dial indicators).
• High School Diploma/GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan the sequence of operation and determine tools, dies, jigs, fixtures for punch press, drop hammer, and hydro press tooling.
• Collaborate with supervisory, liaison, and engineering to devise layouts and production methods.
• Suggest design improvements or material substitutions to proper personnel.
• Prepare sketches/layouts for machining tooling details.
• Fabricate and assemble parts of tooling and assemblies for special tooling and machines, and suggest changes in tool design and fabrication.
• Coordinate with tool design and production to set up tooling prior to first piece inspection and modify tools as needed.
• Perform rework, repair, and checks as described.
• Act as liaison between Manufacturing, Experimental, Tool Design, and Tooling to ensure economy and practicality of tooling.
• Investigate tooling problems; determine if issue is due to design, construction or use; isolate and initiate corrective action.
