Job Summary

The Gas Skilled Laborer/Groundman supports the crew by assisting with the installation and repair of gas lines, working with personnel within the department.

Responsibilities

• Gather materials for the day’s work and ensure the crew has everything required.
• Distribute materials at the job site.
• Hand locate existing utilities.
• Hand grade landscape areas.
• Operate equipment such as backhoes, skid steer loaders, drills, trenchers, and paving machines safely.
• Assist with lifting heavy gas pipelines during installation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of gas utility construction experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 or more years of gas utility construction experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role involves outdoor field work, requiring extended periods of physical activity such as bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds, often in extreme weather conditions. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination are necessary.
