Job summary

Delta Utilities is seeking a Gas Service Mechanic to manage gas services, install and read meters, and troubleshoot gas-related issues across the New Orleans area.

You will perform on-site gas service operations, coordinate with city officials, and document repairs while traveling frequently in the territory. A company vehicle is provided, with a valid driver’s license required and DOT safety compliance expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages).
• Mechanic I: 1+ years of gas distribution experience or equivalent plumbing work experience.
• Must possess a valid, non-expired Driver's License and be able to obtain/maintain Class D License when needed.
• Compliance with DOT and PHMSA safety regulations and pre-employment drug testing is required.

Responsibilities

• Turn gas service on/off per procedures.
• Install/replace gas meters; read meters accurately.
• Check operation of regulator equipment; repair gas leaks.
• Make minor adjustments to appliances and troubleshoot customer requests.
• Use GIS and basic PC tools to maintain records; write detailed incident reports.
