Job summary

Eversource Energy in Brockton, MA is seeking a Gas Service Technician Trainee to join the Gas Meter Service team. The role covers installing, repairing and maintaining gas meters, regulators, gas lines and appliances, plus testing for leaks and connecting appliances to gas, water and electrical supplies.

Candidates must pass EEI CAST and a math test, provide a valid driver's license, and complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen.

Qualifications

• Pass EEI CAST Test.
• Satisfactory completion of a written mathematical test.
• Pre-employment pre-placement drug test per DOT regulations.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
• High School Diploma or GED required; vocational/mechanical/plumbing training preferred.
• Ability to work independently and outdoors in all weather; able to walk long distances with gas equipment/tools.
• Two years of related mechanical experience; gas utility experience preferred.
• History of safe working habits.

ROLE & SCOPE:

The Gas Service Technician is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining gas meters, regulators, gas lines and gas appliances. Testing for gas leaks. Working on boilers, ovens, gas fireplaces, gas-fired refrigerators, hydronic heating systems, and related. Installing and connecting appliances to gas, water, and electrical supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Must pass the EEI CAST Test.
• 2. This position will require the satisfactory completion of a written mathematical test.
• 3. Qualified applicants must pass a pre-employment/pre-placement drug test in accordance with D.O.T regulations.
• 4. Must possess a valid Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
• 5. High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational, mechanical, or plumbing training is highly preferred
• 6. Ability to work independently and outdoors in all types of varying weather conditions. Must be physically capable of walking long distances while carrying gas equipment/tools.
• 7. Must have 2 years of related mechanical experience, gas utility experience preferred.
• 9. Must have a history of safe working habits.

COMPENSATION

The hourly rate for this position starts at $43.50 and progresses in accordance with the union contract.
