Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking a gas service technician to support distribution operations across central and southern Illinois. The role focuses on service duties, meter work, and gas appliance handling within customer premises.

Day shift, Monday–Friday, with overtime and emergency call-outs; CDL and respirator qualifications required or pursued; residency within 25 miles of operating area; eligible for annual incentive payments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Welding, pipefitting, HVAC and/or excavating equipment operation experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL license.
• Must reside within 25 miles of the operating area.
• Must become respirator qualified.
• Candidate must be able to work with the public, and be readily available for shift work and overtime.
• Must pass the CAST test.
• Must pass state/federal driver's licensing requirements, physical and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Respond to gas emergencies, set and maintain residential and large commercial gas meters, perform pipe work on customer premises and work on gas appliances.
