Job summary

Xcel Energy in Denver seeks a Gas Supply Analyst to evaluate complex gas supply, transportation, and storage plans, modeling portfolio optimization using Sendout and Plexos to determine optimal gas purchases for the operating units, with an expected annual spend near $2B.

The role includes preparing regulatory filings, defending filings, and supporting rate cases, while developing long-range gas supply plans to maximize reliability and control costs within XE's budget framework.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a BS in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or closely related field.
• 2+ years of natural gas or electric industry experience preferred in planning, design day modeling, or related areas.
• Knowledge of linear programming and model development.
• Financial analysis skills to evaluate opportunities; strong written communication for regulatory filings and testimony.

Responsibilities

• Develop/run/maintain long-range resource models for gas supply portfolios using Sendout and Plexos.
• Create Design Day forecasts for gas requirements across multiple units.
• Prepare and defend regulatory filings to recover gas fuel costs.
• Develop financial models for interstate and intrastate rate cases.
• Prepare, implement, and maintain dynamic annual and long-range gas supply plans.
• Evaluate market opportunities and proposed transactions.
