Job summary

NiSource is seeking an Environmental Coordinator 2 to implement and support health and safety programs within NiSource Columbia Gas operations and construction segments. You will provide expert safety guidance, develop policies, and consult with leadership on regulatory compliance and environmental issues.

The role involves coordinating OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements, developing training materials, and managing safety plans, investigations, and interactions with regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• College degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management, Safety Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related safety field.
• 1–5 years experience in safety, risk management, environmental, auditing or regulatory compliance preferred.
• Ability to work independently with professional judgment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company safety policies.
• Develop and revise safety materials and training for construction facilities.
• Prepare safety permits and agency approvals.
• Prepare comments on new regulations and liaise with regulators.
• Lead safety plans, committees and investigations as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and third‑party safety resources.
