Job summary

Xcel Energy invites students to join our gas operations internship focused on Emergency Response and Compliance. You will analyze data, support continuous improvement, and help automate daily tasks across sites. Hybrid work, May 31, 2027 start, with potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Open to current students enrolled in a related program who can travel to work sites and commit to in-person work, primarily during summer, with part‑time options during the school year.

Qualifications

• Current student (Junior or higher) as of Fall 2027.
• Pursuing a degree in Business, Emergency Preparedness, Engineering.
• Personal vehicle needed to travel to work sites.
• Able to work full‑time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commute to the designated work location in‑person.

Both intern positions will serve as dedicated area specialists for gas operations with a focus on Gas Emergency Response and Compliance work. These roles will analyze data and assist with continuous improvement efforts detailed around efficiency and app rationalization.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Assist local operations with logistical improvements.
• Analyze data to determine trends and areas for key improvements.
• Utilize skills to enhance business processes and improve application functionality.
• Play a key role in continuous improvement efforts that allows for more automation within daily operational activities.

This position is for a May 31, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Current student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027)
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Business, Emergency Preparedness, Engineering
• Personal vehicle needed to travel to work sites
• Able to work full‑time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in‑person, per our hybrid work policy.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $19.20 to $21.00 per hour
