Position Summary
The Shop Hand is responsible for supporting daily shop operations by assisting with the cleaning, inspection, maintenance, staging, loading, and organization of gas lift equipment and related materials. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment while supporting field operations and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the cleaning, repair, inspection, and preparation of gas lift equipment.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and equipment deliveries.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with inventory control processes.
- Organize and maintain shop, warehouse, and yard areas.
- Assist technicians and field personnel with equipment preparation and mobilization.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
- Inspect tools and equipment to ensure proper operation and report deficiencies.
- Assist with receiving and documenting incoming inventory and shipments.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
- Support emergency and after-hours operations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn gas lift equipment operations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attendance record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous oilfield, warehouse, or industrial shop experience.
- Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts.
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift more than 50 pounds with assistance or equipment.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, push, pull, and climb throughout the workday.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
- Industrial shop and yard setting.
- Exposure to moving machinery, equipment, noise, dust, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Compliance with all safety regulations and PPE requirements is mandatory.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday.
- Standard daytime schedule with overtime as business needs require.
- Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required.
