Job summary

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. in Orange County, CA, seeks an Engineering Technician to support as-built review for natural gas distribution and transmission design.

Work under direct supervision, learn from senior staff, and help verify main lines, fittings, and MAOP compliance. This entry-level role requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field, with a willingness to learn and contribute to project accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction or related field required.
• Entry level position with preferred Encroachment Permit experience or municipal permitting experience.
• Ability to interpret construction plans is preferred.
• Experience as permit technician or construction manager is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide as-built review for natural gas distribution and transmission design.
• Verify accuracy and quality of as-built plans, including main, fittings and pipe appurtenances for distribution, high pressure and regulator stations.
• Check the Operating Pressures of installed components against system MAOP requirements and testing documentation.
• Review construction orders, inventory lists, and project tracking software to confirm accuracy and consistency.
• Communicate effectively to report findings to supervisor.

Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction or related field

Entry level position, no prior experience required. One year experience preparing Encroachment Permit applications and processing such permits on behalf of an engineering company or a contractor; or six months experience issuing Encroachment Permits at a municipality strongly preferred.

Ability to interpret construction plans strongly preferred.

Experience as a building permit technician or construction project manager a plus.
