Job summary

Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) is seeking dynamic, career-motivated individuals for an entry-level Utility Worker role in Chesapeake, VA. This position offers growth through an apprenticeship program and emphasizes field operations, outdoor work, and travel as needed.

Responsibilities include assisting in installing and repairing gas mains and service lines, supporting distribution activities, and performing tasks with safety in mind.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Entry-level position with no prior experience required.
• Must pass the DOT drug test.

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs gas mains and service lines; participates in making taps on mains and services.
• Assists with distribution activities involved in installation, repair and maintenance of the distribution system.
• Performs digging, shoring, leak repair, testing, and wrapping of pipe; uses hand tools and air tools while following safety rules.
• Must live in the service area and be available for on-call and emergency response.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Operator Qualified in accordance with Company Plan

VA state driver’s license
