Job summary

Southern Company Gas is seeking an entry-level Utility Worker for the Providence Forge (New Kent) office. The role involves outdoor work in all weather conditions, travel up to 5% and on-call duties in the service area.

It supports growth into an apprenticeship program and may require DOT drug testing and driving a VA state license. The position is based in Virginia Natural Gas operations and is part of the Field Operations team, with opportunities for advancement through the apprenticeship

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Entry-level position with no prior experience required.
• Must pass the DOT drug test.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair gas mains and service lines; assist with taps.
• Assist with distribution activities for installation, repair and maintenance.
• Dig, shore, repair leaks, test and wrap pipe; maintain tools and vehicles.
• Be available for call out for emergency service within the service area.
