Job summary

Delta Utilities in New Orleans seeks a Construction Worker/Maintenance Mechanic to join a crew installing and repairing gas main and service lines. The role offers progression from Helper to Senior levels based on experience and performance.

Responsibilities include assisting with gas distribution tasks, digging, shoring, leak repair, testing, and pipe wrapping, while maintaining tools and equipment and following safety rules. High school diploma required.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools.
• Wamiliarity with operating a 90-pound jack hammer and basic tool usage.
• Able to take instruction from lead mechanics and support crew.
• Ability to maintain and safeguard equipment and tools.
• Able to interpret construction drawings for underground facilities.
• Familiar with GIS technology and basic PC apps.

Responsibilities

• Assist with gas distribution tasks for installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Dig, shoring, leak repair, testing, and wrapping of pipe.
• Use hand tools and air tools per job requirements.
• Identify tools and equipment needed; ensure trucks are stocked.
• Take direction from leads and aid other crew members as needed.
• Maintain neat, orderly condition of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform standby duties and emergency callouts, within 60 minutes report time.
• Work extended hours and in adverse weather to complete gas work.
