Gas Distribution Construction/Maintenance Technician II

Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite Monday–Thursday, Remote Friday) Duration: 2 Year Contract Pay Rate: $33.50–$38.50/hr

Your client, a leading energy and utilities company, is seeking a Gas Dist Constrn/Mnt Tech II (GOCC) to support gas emergency response and gas compliance maintenance and inspection activities across the service territory. This role coordinates closely with Gas Technical Services (GTS) Supervision, Region Engineering, Field Utilities Specialists, Construction Managers at C&O Centers, and Construction Services to ensure compliance records, work orders, and field operations run smoothly and in line with regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities: In this role, you will manage and support gas compliance maintenance and inspection coordination within the Gas Technical Services department. Key responsibilities include:

Essential Job Duties and Job Functions:

• Acts as primary coordinator over the GTS Inspection & Maintenance program throughout the service territory for gas system assets
• Validates and updates critical maintenance and inspection work record data
• Creates, monitors, and manages work orders and maintenance notifications for company assets and equipment records in SAP-PM to ensure successful completion of necessary field repairs
• Monitors the status of field work orders for completion, required follow-up, work scope changes, joint meet requirements, and access issues
• Responds to data requests from management and Compliance departments for internal and external audits
• Creates and modifies ad-hoc and standardized reports using HANA and SAP-PM systems to ensure compliance, monitor notifications, and monitor work order status for Gas Technical Services
• Assists with technical system support questions for represented personnel, sometimes resulting in scheduled work modifications
• May assist supervisor with special project reporting and analysis
• Performs Pipeline and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) emergency response functions by dispatching and assigning represented personnel via the CLICK system, including phone notification, other department coordination, and order creation/modification/management through completion of trouble orders in SAP-PM
• Acts as a liaison with various internal and external departments
• Interacts daily with represented field personnel regarding order completion status, CLICK issues, and additional crew support needs (crew/equipment support, material ordering, etc.)
• Assists ARSO scheduling with compliance inspection and maintenance orders
• Creates and modifies late lists and prearranged lists
• Updates vacation information and ensures callout lists with qualifications are accurate
• Adheres to mandated policies, procedures, and internal company standards in support of emergency response and compliance activities

Knowledge and Skills:

• Organization & Attention to Detail — manages compliance records, maintenance schedules, work orders, inspections, and regulatory documentation with strong accuracy and prioritization
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills — able to analyze large volumes of operational and compliance data, identify discrepancies, interpret regulatory requirements, and make decisions affecting scheduling, dispatching, and compliance performance
• Communication & Collaboration — serves as liaison between field crews, engineering, supervisors, compliance teams, dispatchers, planners, and external stakeholders; strong communication skills for coordinating work, resolving issues, training personnel, and supporting emergency response
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required
• Strong knowledge of MS Project, Visio, Excel, and Word
