Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Garnishment Specialist to manage delinquent income tax garnishments and related work in the In-House Collections unit. You will review accounts, determine eligibility, issue garnishments, and communicate options to taxpayers while maintaining compliance with state rules.

The role requires preparing documentation, maintaining caseloads, and coordinating with legal referrals when necessary; telework may be possible based on agency needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
• Experience with tax or government work is preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and issue delinquent income tax garnishments and related correspondence.
• Review accounts and determine eligibility for wage garnishment per law.
• Manage caseloads and ensure compliance with procedures and deadlines.
• Explain options to taxpayers and negotiate payment plans when appropriate.
• Assist in legal referrals for bank levy or asset hearings when needed.
• Maintain records and support audits and investigations as required.
