Job summary

Lansing School District is seeking athletic coaches to lead their teams through a season with emphasis on competitive play and academic success. Coaches will recruit players, run effective practices, and ensure eligibility in alignment with MHSAA policies.

Successful candidates will possess coaching experience, CPR/First Aid, and a Michigan Teacher Certificate, and will collaborate with the Athletic Director to schedule practices and games while promoting district values and community

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience is required.
• Knowledge of high-quality coaching tactics and drills.
• Knowledge of MHSAA & LSD rules and policies.
• CPR Certification & first aid training.
• Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values.
• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate.
• Successful NCAA athletic career.
• Lead and support teams through the season.
• Recruit a full team by the first day of the season, with competitive tryouts if needed.
• Coach teams to a winning record and postseason success.
• Ensure players are academically eligible and perform.
• Organize and communicate practice and game schedules with the Athletic Director.
• Maintain and distribute equipment and jerseys at season start/end.
• Organize offseason conditioning, training, and clinics for teams and community.
• Abide by all MHSAA policies and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned to support the district mission.

Responsibilities

• Lead team through in-season tutoring and academic support as needed.
• Perform other duties to further the district's athletic programs.

Job Overview

In the pursuit of our mission, we are hiring athletic coaches. These individuals will be responsible for supporting their team(s) success, including in the classroom. In particular, the coach will be expected to recruit a full team, coach their team to a competitive record, and ensure their team is academically successful for the whole season. They will also be encouraged to provide offseason training opportunities and expected to lead in-season tutoring, in accordance with MHSAA policies.

• Organize and communicate consistent practice and competitive game schedules in collaboration with the Athletic Director
• Maintain and distribute team equipment and jerseys at the beginning and end of the season
• Organize and operate offseason conditioning, training, and clinics for both team members and community members
• Abide by all MHSAA policies and regulations
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
