Job summary

PCSI is seeking a Gardener to join the team at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. The role involves minor grounds maintenance, watering, weeding, and fertilizing to keep plants healthy and attractive.

Work hours are 7am-3:30pm, Monday–Friday, reporting to the Director of Operations. Employees may receive benefits such as PTO (21 days/year), federal holiday coverage, and employer-contributed medical/dental/vision plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in grounds maintenance preferred.
• Ability to pass criminal and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in minor grounds maintenance tasks.

Job description

PCSI is looking for Gardener at NASA Langley Research Center. The Gardner will assist in the accomplishment of minor grounds maintenance tasks and maintain the health and appearance of plants by watering, weeding, and fertilizing. This position will report to the Director of Operations and is based in Hampton, Virginia.

Typical work hours will be 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday.

What You'll Do As Gardner

What You'll Need

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Experience and/or formal vocational and/or technical training in grounds maintenance preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances used in landscaping.
• Familiarity with regional plant life, local pests, and synthetic and natural fertilizers.
• Demonstrated accuracy and speed in work.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work both with minimal supervision and as a team player.
• Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.

Other Requirements

• Ability to pass criminal, and drug screenings.
• Ability to pass driving screenings preferred.
• Ability to work outside in inclement weather and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
• Ability to move about the facilities approximately 90% of the time during working hours.
• Ability to work any daytime hours or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• Preferred to possess valid driver's license and maintain good driving record.
• If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
