Job description

Bronx House Summer Day Camp Instructors will be responsible for conducting fun, engaging educational or art instruction to campers. This position runs 7 ½ weeks from June 30-August 19. 9:45am-3:30pm, Mon-Fri. Transportation is provided from the Bronx to camp daily if needed.

Qualifications:
  • A knowledge base in the designated area of specialty or equivalent/necessary training.
  • Demonstrate skills and competency as an instructor or artist.
  • Understanding of conflict resolution, dedication, and mentoring concepts.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong group management skills.
  • Must be a team player.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth, grades K-6.
  • Build positive relationships with youth and staff.
  • Encourage youth to participate in all available activities actively; promote respect and teamwork.
  • Provide a safe, structured environment for student learning.
  • Attend all required training.
  • Maintain and supervise the use of all specialty-related equipment, reporting necessary maintenance and updates regularly to the Program Director.
  • Make periodic reports/announcements about the designated specialty.
  • Report to and provide necessary assistance to the Director and Unit Leaders when specialties are not in session.
  • Participating in the total camp program including, all-camp events, opening and closing day.
