Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to arrange guest seating assignments to servers. As a front line employee, the cashier/host is the director of first impressions. Cashier/Hosts are expected to provide prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional service to all Moody Gardens guests at all times. They are required to be detailed in their work while maintaining an efficient pace.

Position Duration: 03/28/2025 - 05/30/2025

Position Authority

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable actions necessary to carry out duties, consistent with guidelines.

Position Guidelines

Include company and department policies, procedures, and supervisory directives. The incumbent should exercise sound judgment, initiative, and prioritize accuracy and attention to detail.

Essential Functions

• Maintain a guest-focused attitude
• Ensure a quality guest experience
• Greet guests promptly with a friendly smile and eye contact
• Inform guests about specials and menu changes
• Answer questions regarding food, beverages, and services
• Provide high chairs and special seating as needed
• Seat guests appropriately, rotate sections to balance workload
• Provide menus and clear unnecessary settings
• Notify servers of new tables and mark tables as occupied
• Monitor schedule for upcoming parties and events
• Keep menus clean and tidy
• Clear and clean tables after guests leave
• Replenish station supplies
• Inform relief staff about occupied and unoccupied tables
• Communicate guest requests to staff
• Assist servers proactively
• Thank guests and invite them to return
• Attend employee meetings and contribute suggestions
• Report guest dissatisfaction to management
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements

• No prior experience required
• Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification before starting
