Job summary

North Bay Children's Center's Garden Educator role combines hands-on garden stewardship with instructional coaching, building classroom teachers' confidence and capacity to lead the GOE Living Curriculum within their own classrooms.

You will engage, teach and coach students and teachers year-round through innovative practices aligned with NBCC's mission, coordinating curriculum across sites, preparing materials, and ensuring safe, welcoming garden environments that foster curiosity and growth.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of proven hands-on experience in gardening, horticulture, farming, landscaping, or a closely related field.
• Experience delivering education programs to children.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coach adult learners with patience and flexibility.
• Proficient use of Microsoft products and related technologies.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and Curriculum Support: Model GOE Living Curriculum lessons for teachers and demonstrate pedagogy, pacing and child-centered facilitation.
• Coach teachers from modeling to co-teaching to observation and support for independent classroom implementation.
• Prepare and stage plants, tools, and materials so teachers can lead garden activities; identify gaps and propose solutions.
• Communicate schedules, garden needs, and classroom engagement with teachers and site supervisors; share updates via GOE channels.
• Participate in monthly GOE team meetings, seasonal planning, and school/community events.
• Maintain gardens and equipment, ensuring safe, accessible and well-organized spaces.
