Job summary

The Cottage Gardens Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Merchandiser in Cedar Rapids to create and maintain plant displays at our customer locations, collaborating with store staff and regional merchandisers.

This position involves lifting, climbing, and working outdoors, with a minimum of 15 hours per week during peak season (8 hours on weekends). Base pay is $14.00 per hour, and this is a seasonal assignment with no management duties.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 40 lbs total and 20 lbs overhead.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Must be willing to work in inclement weather including rain, snow, wind.
• Seasonal position with weekend hours during peak season (Mid-April to Mid-June).

Responsibilities

• Unload and maintain all products from The Cottage Gardens and other vendors as needed.
• Assist with building Garden Center benches and parking lot corrals.
• Create and replenish sign displays with Home Depot approved signing.
• Build special event displays and execute promotions and event pricing.
• Assist Home Depot management with special projects.
• Maintain plan-o-gram integrity.
• Provide routine care of plant material (deadheading, pruning, watering).
• Maintain all displays by condensing and culling product.
• Follow schedule set by regional supervisor.
• Travel between stores may be required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• The merchandiser will act as a field representative for The Cottage Gardens Inc. The purpose of this position is to create and maintain great looking plant displays at our customer’s location. This job requires the merchandiser to perform physical tasks as well as maintain communication with store associates, regional merchandisers and The Cottage Gardens staff.
• This is a seasonal position. Merchandisers are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week ( 8 of which must be completed on the weekend) during peak season (Mid-April thru Mid-June).

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The person must be physically able to lift 40lbs total, and 20lbs over their head.
• This position requires heavy pushing and pulling of shipping Racks.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Must be willing to work in inclement weather (rain, snow, wind)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Responsibilities include the following essential functions-other duties may be assigned.

• Merchandisers would be responsible for unloading and maintaining all products from The Cottage Gardens and other vendors as needed.
• Assist with the building of incise Garden Center benches and parking lot corrals.

• Travel may be required between stores.
