Garage Shift Supervisor - 3rd Shift : 8:00PM to 6:30AM - Wednesday thru Saturday $5,000 SIGN ON BONUS! Milwaukee, WI, USA Req #657 Wednesday, April 2, 2025

Department/Division: Maintenance - Garage

Shift: 3rd Shift - 8:00 PM TO 6:30 AM – Wednesday thru Saturday

Location: Kinnickinnic Garage

FLSA Status: Exempt - Non-Represented

Salary Range: $72,700 - $90,900

JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises day-to-day garage operations at assigned location to ensure efficient and timely maintenance, repair, nightly parking and pull out of all buses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides effective garage supervision while maintaining a high level of garage production; Monitors timeliness and completion of all garage functions.
  2. Ensures the completion and accuracy of all maintenance records and documents, including daily reports, timecards, and accident reports etc.
  3. Provides training, advice, direction and guidance to all maintenance staff with emphasis on new hires.
  4. Performs inspections to ensure all buses are clean, safe, reliable and ready for their morning routes.
  5. Enforces company policies and procedures and issue disciplines as needed.
  6. Ensures building and grounds are clean, tidy and all vital functions and equipment are working properly.
  7. Creates work orders as needed for building repairs.
  8. Investigates accidents and enters reporting data.
  9. Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate's Degree in Automotive Maintenance, Business Administration, or related field required. Experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
  2. Five (5) years’ experience as a bus mechanic required.
  3. Diagnostic software experience required.
  4. Valid Class D Wisconsin Driver’s License (non-probationary) required.
  5. Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License or CDL permit with Passenger Endorsement and no Air Brake Restriction.
  6. One (1) year supervisory experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of diesel engines, systems and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
  2. Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) and FTA (Federal Transit Administration) regulations.
  3. Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  4. Knowledge of union contract and policies.
  5. Knowledge of building construction and electrical fixtures.
  6. Knowledge of diesel engines and other heavy-duty components.
  7. Skilled in computer operations and spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and related software.
  8. Ability to manage conflict and balance competing interests from multiple stakeholders.
  9. Ability to supervise/lead others.
  10. Ability to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships.
  11. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  12. Ability to work independently.
  13. Ability to pass pre-employment skill assessment tests.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  1. Work is frequently conducted in an office, shop, construction or warehouse site environment with frequent exposure to hostile or irate individuals, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals or substances, and loud noises.
  2. Physical requirements are those described as light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects.
