Prairie Farms Dairy in Fort Smith, AR is seeking a Garage Diesel Mechanic to service and repair diesel tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. You will troubleshoot problems, perform inspections, overhaul engines, and test drive equipment to ensure repairs are correct.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Position : Garage Diesel Mechanic

Location: Fort Smith, AR

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, Thrift, Life Insurance

Shift : Tuesday - Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Servicing and repairing diesel tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. Will be doing a full line of service work on the above-mentioned equipment. Troubleshoot problems as reported. Conduct state approved inspections of equipment. Overhaul diesel engines. Test drive tractor-trailer units and trucks to ensure repair work is correct. Follow blueprint, wiring diagrams, and service manuals. Complete written work reports. Adhere to all safety programs and laws. Willing to be trained in various mechanical skills and subject manners.

Required Technical Skills:

• Able to operate a Tractor-Trailer.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Welding and soldering skills.
• Electrical- basic skills trouble shooting electrical problems and reading wiring diagrams.
• Diesel Repair- basic working knowledge and/or experience of diesel engine repair and overhaul.

Required Soft Skills:

• Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Coachable and willing to learn.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, crawl, climb, squat, and work on items both above the head and at ground level during repair and maintenance operations. Must keep work area safe and clean and work in a safe and efficient manner.

Education, Certifications and Experience:

• Must have a Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations

The following is preferred:

• C.F.C Refrigeration Type II Certification
• Diesel Refrigeration repair experience
• Ability to arc weld and solder.
