Job summary

Avangrid’s Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation in East Hartford, CT is seeking a Union Garage Mechanic to locate defects, inspect and repair automotive and construction equipment, and maintain records. Training will be provided for CNG-related equipment, compressors, and fueling station gear.

This is a DOT safety-sensitive role with potential drug screening. Applicants must be fluent in English, have vocational training in vehicle maintenance, a valid MVD license, and a clean driving history.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to work safely and physically perform required work on motor vehicles, construction equipment and other machinery.
• Must have prior vocational training and experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must have a valid MVD license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Locate defects in automotive, construction and other equipment.
• Inspect, adjust and make repairs as directed.
• Assist in keeping computerized records of inspection, maintenance and inventory.
• Perform body repair and maintenance work on automotive equipment.
• Perform any work related to automotive and construction equipment.
• May be required to maintain, service and repair equipment related to CNG vehicles and fueling station equipment.
• May be required to perform certified warranty work for various manufacturers.
• Perform related duties as required.
• May involve handling hazardous waste.

NUMBER OF POSITIONS - 1

LOCATION - CNG -CT-East Hartford

Hourly rate: $44.43-$52.14

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.

• Training will be provided by the Company to meet requirements of 40 CFR 265.16.
