Job summary

A garage door installation company is seeking a Garage Door Installer in Elk River, Minnesota. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Gathers materials per the work order and loads/unloads materials.
  • Installs garage doors and operators according to standards.
  • Completes Labor Detail report daily and submits on time.
  • Maintains truck and tools; ensures compliance with safety rules.

Job description

Compensation

$22–$25/hr while in training. After training, installers are paid on a piece-rate basis, allowing for higher earning potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gathers materials per the work order and loads and unloads materials onto truck and job site
  • Installation of garage doors & operators according to the standards and specifications of the work order
  • Responsible for completing the Labor Detail report daily and ensuring it is submitted on time
  • Maintain all tools, materials, and lifts, etc.
  • Responsible for completing paperwork for each job and providing it to the Production Manager daily
  • Observe job site safety rules and know the location of the SDS books in your vehicle
  • Maintain truck maintenance and complete truck inspections daily
  • Responsible for complying with OSHA guidelines and company safety policies and procedures
  • Will be required to drive a company vehicle and must follow all driving safety rules and DOT requirements at all times
  • Responsible for cleaning up the job site after each job
  • Other duties as assigned
Role Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Garage Door Technician or in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of various garage door models, components, and systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing garage door systems.
  • Ability to effectively use hand and power tools specific to the garage door industry.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate technical information to non‑technical customers.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
Physical Demands

As a garage door installer, the physical demands of the job involve heavy lifting, climbing, bending, squatting, and working at heights. Installers regularly lift and carry heavy door panels and use tools to install and secure components. The work requires strength, endurance, and manual dexterity, as well as precision when handling tools. Installers also work in varying weather conditions and tight spaces, often for long hours.
